• afs. The system will be configured as AFS client.
• auto. Fully automatic installation. Dangerous. The default is to ask the user to verify and accept the installation settings. Use the 'auto' flag to overwrite this.
• asw-afs. All DESY application software, e.g. the contents of /opt/products are installed as links into AFS.
• desktop. The system is treated as a desktop system. This has an effect on e.g. software selection.
• ext3. (DL 4 only, ignored on DL 5). File systems will be mounted with automatic type detection.
• HAFS. 'hale' font services. (Obsolete?).
• kbd-de. German keyboard layout.
• locpwd. Localize /etc/passwd.
• locate. Enable cron updates of the 'locate' database. Use with care on systems with larger local disk capacity. Not needed for systems with 'desktop' flag.
• mails. The system is a mail server.
• minimal. Very basic installation. Almost no application software.
• m-ps2wl. PS/2 wheelmouse (Tested with Logitech).
• m-usbl. Mouse connected to USB adapter (Tested with Logitech).
• m-usbwl. Wheel mouse connected to USB adapter (Tested with Logitech).
• ncu. No cron update. No cron entries for automatic updates by 'salad' will be created upon installation. This is no toggle switch !
• noFS. No external font services.
• noX. X related libraries will be installed. No graphical login capabilities wil be provided.
• nscd-snttl. Use small negative time to live values in the NSCD configuration.
• Partitioning entries
  • No partitioning entry. The system has an IDE disk with default partitioning.
  • phda-d. The system has a IDE disk with default partitioning.
  • phda-h1-d. The system has a IDE disk with default partitioning but /x01 instead /scratch for h1
  • phda-zeus-d. The system has a IDE disk with non-default partitioning only for zeus with separate /tmp/, /var (both 1GB) and /execspool instead /scratch
  • psda-d. The system has a SCSI disk with default partitioning.
  • psda-h1-d. The system has a SCSI disk with default partitioning but /x01 instead /scratch for h1
  • psda-zeus-d. The system has a SCSI disk with non-default partitioning only for zeus with separate /tmp/, /var (both 1GB) and /execspool instead /scratch
  • phda-d-tmp. The system has a IDE disk with a 2 GB partition for /tmp.

• nic-ga620 network-interface is an GigaBit-card (acenic-module)
• nic-ga621 network-interface is an GigaBit-card (ns83820-module)
• pnfs. 'pnfs' mounts will be provided.
• pub. Enable access for all AFS users.
• reference. (Info only). System is a reference system.
• rl3. The default run level of the system is '3'.
• samba. Installs samba with local configuration on the machine. This service flag is obsolete and will be removed.
• tsm. (info only). Backup services should run on the system.
• tsmnd. Unknown.
• webs. NOTE: This entry is obsolete and there is no action associated with it.
• X. X including libraries will be installed. Graphical login will be configured.
• xfs. X Font service. Fonts will be installed locally.
• 3dm. 3ware support software will be installed and run.
• 75dpi. Search 75dpi font directory first. Default is 100dpi.
