Physics Computing

The IT working group Physics Computing was founded early 2003 and focuses on all aspects of computing directly related to the physics research carried out at DESY. This ranges from the development of mass storage applications in terms of hard and software, over high performance computing and Grid, to the supply and development of physics application software. All of these services are provided in close cooperation with the other IT working groups. The new group thus serves as an interface between the physics research groups and IT for all computing needs that go beyond the basic services. This in particular involves the concept and design phase of new projects.
